P&O's latest super liner Ventura arrived at her home port of Southampton today. She was greeted by gloomy leaden skies but at least it had stopped snowing. Town Quay was packed with people trying to get a first glimpse of the new ship.
She was early, and we nearly missed the impressive site of her with tugs forward and aft giving her a watery welcome. She's a similar size to the other ships of the fleet, but her shape, to my eyes at least, isn't as elegant. The stern of Oriana and Aurora are more graceful, but I suppose this allows more cabins.
We were especially keen to get a look at her as we have booked with our friends Sarah & Steve on the party cruise that leaves at the end of the week. It's only a 2 night jaunt across the Channel to Brugge, however we're looking forward to being the first fee paying passengers and taking a look around her. She is officially named on April 16th after which she will leave for her maiden voyage. I'll post a review of our cruise here, in the meantime here's a last picture as she made her way up to the Mayflower terminal. ![]() |
